There was a dynamic turnout for the 2018 Saturday Leadership Academy MLK Day of Service.  The community service project, during MLK weekend, had the 100 SLA students and Howard University Collegiate 100 members join the Mayor’s Office of Volunteerism, Serve DC, and the Thursday Network to assemble over 3,000 toiletry care packages for the homeless of Washington, DC.

The event highlighted the importance of recognizing your blessings and providing support to those among us who are less fortunate.  The young men and women that participated in the event were very passionate about their work and learned a great deal by giving back to their community.
