Health and Wellness is a vital component of a thriving community. The purpose of the 100’s Health & Wellness programs is to increase awareness of important healthcare issues affecting the African American community, in particular, African American youth. To increase its reach, 100BMGWDC partners with various organizations to promote a variety of health and wellness issues such as exercise and obesity prevention, health screenings, drug and HIV/AIDS prevention, teen pregnancy prevention, and diabetes and prostate cancer awareness.
One of our signature Health & Wellness initiatives is The Youth Movement, which targets middle school and high school students across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. The 6-8-week training program focuses on proper nutrition and fitness. The objectives are to promote healthier lifestyle among the students and support them in starting early to instill healthy practices that will last throughout their life.
