Our economic empowerment programs promote financial responsibility and encourage saving, home ownership, and entrepreneurship. We provide experiential learning activities and information on investing, real-estate, starting a business, and other topics that challenge our students to expand and refine their thinking about money.
Dollars & Sense—Our Dollars and Sense financial education and literacy program teaches students how to gather, analyze, and present financial information in order to make sound financial, as well as life choices. The program covers a wide range of topics, from setting and achieving financial goals, to maintaining a good credit score, paying for college, understanding interest rates, saving through a 401(K), and the power of compound interest.
The Dollars and Sense program is conducted in a number of schools throughout Washington, D.C. and has had as many as 180 students participate at one time. To meet the demand for the program, in addition to 100 members, we have recruited local members of the banking and finance community to serve as instructors.
