During this past holiday season, several members of the 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, DC volunteered at the Central Union Mission in Washington, DC. Headed by Volunteer Chairman, Michael Taylor, members helped host, serve and clean up during lunch time at the shelter.
As part of their service, members signed visitors in and escorted them to their seats. Once seated, 100 members and other volunteers served meals, shared jokes, and actively engaged in positive conversation. At the end of the day, 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, DC made a substantial financial contribution to the Central Union Mission and donated three full bags of new and/or gently used clothing to the organization.
Several members brought their kids, and a number of Saturday Leadership Academy students participated in the event. “Real Men Giving Real Time” is one of 100 Black Men’s mottos, and we actively work to practice this in word, but more importantly by our deeds. Special thanks to everyone that participated in this very special activity.
